Cut Down on Gas Consumption

You can get better fuel economy with any vehicle. You just need to make sure that you keep on top of your vehicle maintenance like your oil changes and make sure that your tires are properly inflated, rotated, aligned and balanced. You should also use your cruise control when you are on the highway and never let your vehicle idle for long periods of time. Just letting your vehicle idle for one hour can consume up to half a gallon of gas. Keep your vehicle light and do not travel with a lot of weight in it if your can avoid it. Also be sure to not have bike racks and storage containers on your vehicle year-round (unless you absolutely have to.) Having wind resistance (thanks to those bike racks) will cause you to use more fuel, so if you can avoid it and save some gas then do it.
